Hair Restoration In Women
They say hair is a woman’s greatest accessory. Therefore, hair loss in women can be emotionally devastating, because it tends to be less accepted than hair loss in men. The causes of hair loss have been linked to genetics, stress and hormonal imbalances such dihydrotestosterone (DHT) . Through years of research and development, doctors have discovered innovative techniques for hair restoration in women. Both men and women, have several options from surgical as well as non surgical methods.
Minoxidil, or better known as “Rogaine” is a medication that has been prescribed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Minoxidil is the only medication approved by the FDA to treat female pattern baldness. For women, the 2% concentration of the drug is prescribed. However, discontinuing the use of Minoxidil will eventually trigger hair loss, where hair was thinning originally.
The Hair transplant technique uses hair follicles or “grafts” and places them in regions which are balding. There is minimal risk involved with this procedure, due to the superficial incisions the doctor makes, which are virtually impossible to notice. A patient may require more than one treatment to achieve full density and thickness of the hair. These treatments can be expensive but the results look natural, they grow normally and are permanent.
Hair weaving is another hair restoration technique which is being widely used.
Stitching (suturing) hairs are highly risky due to the technique being infection prone and is best avoided. Using hair extensions or changing your hairstyle might be a solution too.
